Overview

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) invites online applications for 3 posts of Law Officer in the Land and Building Department, Government of NCT of Delhi. The post is a General Central Service, Group-B, Gazetted, Non-Ministerial, permanent position on the Level-07 pay matrix, with a two-year probation and mandatory induction training of at least two weeks for direct recruits. Selected officers will assist the Government Advocate in writ petitions before the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court relating to land acquisition, conduct land-acquisition cases and civil suits, and handle other legal-branch work of the department. Of the 3 vacancies, the category-wise break-up is UR-2, OBC-1, including 1 post reserved for persons with benchmark disabilities (40% and above). Eligibility

Age: not exceeding 30 years (UR) or 33 years (OBC) as on the closing date, with 10 years' additional relaxation for PwBD candidates. Educational qualification: a degree in Law from a recognized university or institute. Experience: either 2 years of legal work as a legal practitioner, or 2 years of legal work in a government office. OBC candidates must hold a certificate issued by the Government of NCT of Delhi (or an equivalent certificate meeting GNCTD's domicile conditions). This post is suitable for PwBD candidates in specified locomotor-disability categories, plus SLD and MD.

Responsibilities

Assisting the Government Advocate in writ petitions before the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court of India relating to land acquisition; conducting land-acquisition cases and civil suits in court; and other legal-branch work of the Land and Building Department, Government of NCT of Delhi, as assigned by the competent authority.

Requirements

Law degree from a recognized university/institute; minimum 2 years' legal-practice or government legal-office experience; valid error-free online application via upsconline.nic.in before the closing date; OBC certificate from GNCTD or an equivalent certificate (where claiming OBC reservation); original certificates ready for production at interview.
